The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Motivation is a powerful force. It is what moves us. What moves you? The fear of the Lord should be your motivation. By having a desire to respect and honor God, you will place boundaries on your life. When the world compromises and walks away from God, you will continue to be in His favor. The desire to not disappoint and disrespect your God will be your motivation. Fearing God means giving Him honor and respect. It tells the world that Jesus is the Savior of your soul and the King over your life. Your only desire will be to bring Him honor and respect. By committing to this lifestyle, the Word of God says that wisdom and knowledge will be your reward. Confusion may grip the world but you will have complete peace. God will release His wisdom upon your life. Man can gather knowledge through much learning, but they cannot tell you what the future holds. Only God can. Man can not predict the outcome of their decisions. God can reveal it to you. Wisdom and knowledge are gifts that God gives to those who are His. People told Paul that he was going to go through suffering. They feared that he was going to die. Paul knew the plan of God and had the knowledge that what he will go through will change the world. He had complete peace during his persecution. His persecution was not because of his mistakes, he was being persecuted for the gospel of Jesus Christ. He knew who he was and who he served. Paul was not afraid of what man could do. He feared the Lord. His desire to please God was a more powerful motivation than the fear man. Because of his commitment and sacrifice, Paul’s life is still speaking to us through the revelation and wisdom he left in the New Testament. As a youth Pastor, there was a time a young teenage boy in my congregation had run away from home. He was having problems with his father. Before I went to bed, I asked God to bring him home. In the middle of the night, the Spirit of God woke me up and told me to go get him. I got into my car and drove to a place where he was hiding. God gave me knowledge of where to find him. I took him to go eat pancakes and we talked it over. That day, God restored that young man’s relationship with his father. Fearing God has an amazing reward. We are to fear Him and not man.
Prayer: Father, I thank you that you hold wisdom and knowledge for those that fear you. I ask you to keep me in Your ways and release wisdom and knowledge in my life. Lord I fear You. You are what motivates me. I desire to bring You glory and honor. Help me to be what You have created me for. A son of God. I live to worship you. In Jesus name, amen.
