…we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ,…Ephesians 4:15
God uses people. Jesus expects us to help each other. Many times it is through giving words of truth. A friend of mine was going through a hard time. He had destroyed his life because he could not control his anger. I wanted to say something to him but I knew it was not the right time. Pride had gripped his heart. Instead of someone who was ready to accept help, he was a person looking for a fight. The devil tries to make us believe that the whole world is against us. When you face these situations, I want to encourage you to release words of truth in love at the right time. Your words could make all the difference. They might not be able to see the full picture. The Word of God says that the truth sets us free. Here are a few tips that may help you speak into the lives of others. 1. Be slow to speak and quick to listen. Listening buys you the privilege to speak into someone’s life. It allows them to share what’s on their heart and in turn, provides you with an opportunity to be heard. 2. Check your heart. Are you walking in love? Will this pull them up or are you
complaining. Remember, you are there to make a truth deposit into their life. It is not about you. If you have some extra motive to say things to them about their mistakes, the word will be rejected because it is not given in pure agape love. 3. Go the extra mile. Words are cheap. Put actions behind your advice. Help in the process of healing. Bring them to church, introduce them to a mentor, or follow up with them as a sign of support. Whatever it is, make sure you do your best not just to speak to them, but to help them.
Prayer: Father, thank you for placing people in my path that I may help. As you speak into my life your Word, I will speak your Word to others. I will not walk away from someone who is hurting. Holy Spirit, speak through me to their heart and brings healing. Turn away their anger with your hand of comfort. I am ready to be used today. I will bless and not curse. In Jesus name. Amen
