Now also we beseech you, brethren, get to know those who labor among you [recognize them for what they are, acknowledge and appreciate and respect them all] – your leaders who are over you in the Lord and those who warn and kindly reprove and exhort you. And hold them in very high and most affectionate esteem in [intelligent and sympathetic] appreciation of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

1 THESSALONIANS 5: 12-13

You need to respect the one that is leading you in your spiritual life. He stands in a God-appointed office. If he is a true man of God, treat him with the respect and honor that God requires of you, otherwise you are showing disrespect to God.

The man of God is the one who has to set the example. Although he is a servant of God, he is not perfect. There may be some things about him that you do not like. That does not make him any less of a man of God; he just needs some fine-tuning like everyone else. As long as he is not practicing sin, you need to put your opinion in your pocket and respect him anyway.

What kind of sheep are you? How do you treat your leader? I would encourage you to love and respect him and his family, as he takes care of the most important part of your life. Pray for him; bless him continually, as that would make it more profitable for you in the long run.

Respect, love, honor and appreciate your spiritual leaders. You will bless God by doing this.
