Therefore I always exercise and discipline myself [mortifying my body, deadening my carnal affections, bodily appetites, and worldly desires, endeavouring in all respects] to have a clear (unshaken, blameless) conscience, void of offence toward God and toward men.

ACTS 24:16

That’s the kind of discipline it takes to get this little body sorted out and away from trouble. It has done its own thing for such a long time that it really does not like the discipline but it is going to get it anyway.

The temptations that pass our sensory tools on a daily basis are getting worse as we press into the 21st century that it gets more and more difficult to do some things that were perfectly safe a number of years ago. The movies that had a 2-21 restriction now admit all ages. The advertising on television and in magazines is raunchy and explicit leaving me blushing on my own at home.

You are going to have to become more and more diligent, keeping yourself out of harm’s way. Protect and guard your hearts of invasive devices that would steal your pure conscience and destroy the life that you have in God.

If someone thinks that it is prudish, that’s fine, but see how far they get in life and how much happiness and joy they have outside of God. It’s the fruit that will reveal it all to you.

Build your life in God and you will never lack any good thing.
