If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].1 JOHN 1:9
It does not matter what you have done when you go to the Lord with a pure heart, and confess your sin, He is just and faithful to forgive you of that sin you committed.
It does not take away from the penalty of sin. For example, if you stole something and you were caught, you would still be responsible to pay whatever price is necessary to right your wrong with the law of the land. Just like the two thieves on the cross; they asked Jesus to forgive them, He did, but they did not get taken off the cross. It is the eternal wrong that you are righting when you get forgiveness from God.
You are also able to get favor if you show the attitude of a pure and repentant heart. If you think that you can behave wrongly and not accept responsibility for it, you are wrong.
The Heavenly Father does not only forgive you of the sin that you are confessing but all the other sins that you are not aware of, like a proud look and mischievous feet.
Go to the Father and get your forgiveness. You will set yourself free and have His blessing.
